There are tons of reasons why there should be a J/Z romance in the profics. I could talk on and on but I will only give you a taste. Han and Leia had a rough and rocky start. So did Luke and Mara. When we first see the J/Z 'ship in the form of crushes, Zekk goes off to the Shadow Academy. That makes it rough being that Zekk must serve his Dark Side (Jaina later brings him back Light). After the whole Academy on Yavin stuff, they don't see each other until the Myrkr Mission. It has to be recalled that Anakin and Padme were apart for ten years before their love blossomed. Luke and Mara spent some time apart too. Anywho, during the mission, they are together in a battle meld (and the boneheaded author gave no more details ). Then, at Hapes, Zekk leaves. While most fans say he left because of various reasons, few of us know the real truth: Zekk was afraid to fall Dark with his true love. He feared that he'd have to harm her if she did (now isn't Zekk sweet?). (Maybe it's my personal view, but several typos were made in NJO book Rebel Dream in Chapter 14. Everytime the name "Jag" appears, "Zekk" was supposed to be in it's place. Example: He Zekk took her by the shoulders and pulled her to him, drawing her head against his chest, resting his own head atop hers in an embrace that startled her so much that she should have jumped away. But she didn't. She leaned against him, a half-collapse, her legs no longer willing to bear all her weight, and though she did not sob, her tears ran down her face and soaked into his uniform Jedi Robes. "I won't go anywhere." "Why?" "Why what?" "Why won't you go anywhere?" "Because I don't want to." He Zekk tilted his head down and hers up, and suddenly she was kissing him, holding him tight enough to cause a vacuum weld. Do you get my point. Then all the other boneheads go along with it and publish the stinking book with all the typos.) Lots of years later the War ends and Jag and Jaina break-up. Five more years pass. Killik Crisis. For all we know, Jaina and Zekk are still in the Joiner Bond. We didn't find out anything at the end of TSW. Anyone see what I am saying? ;D ~Anni~

I see exactly what you're saying. IMO, Zekk and Jaina definitely make a more interesting love story than any of the other pairs Jaina has been placed in. It's sort of like a re-do of Anakin and Padme, but with more twists, and it turns out with the happy ending instead of a depressing tragedy.
However, I think that in real life, almost nobody ends up marrying their first crush. So in order to make the story more lifelike, Jaina needs to break it off with Zekk and go to Kyp and Jag.
But after that, I think there would be even more power and romance to the story if Jaina realizes that Zekk was the one that she should have been with all along, and then goes back to him. After some rocky troubles getting everything all back to normal, they should get married, and blast into hyperspace (instead of walking into the sunset). And they all live happily ever after...case closed.
I just hope that eventually the bonehead writers of the profics see it some other way than it currently is, and that it all turns out well and good.

When and IF Jaina were to break it off with Zekk, I'd prefer she go to Kyp, cause I can't stomach more of Jag. He is stiff and that can get annoying! Kyp, on the other hand, would more likely understand that Jay is going through a hard time and would be there for her. I like Kyp ;D
After some rocky troubles getting everything all back to normal, they should get married, and blast into hyperspace LOL true! That's be great!

I really don't know much about Kyp and Jag. As a J/Z fan, I totally understand. Jaina and Zekk should be together always and forever. Just do it right, and make it sweet the first time through. But as a writer, I know that the story just isn't realistic without a break up or two in there.
Besides, isn't it more romantic if they get back together with a huge, "I always knew you were the one for me, I just didn't realize it until now" speech? I definitely think so.
Wait a minute...did I just spend a whole post saying exactly what I did the first time?

remember way back when, most people thought that Callista would come back, but she didn't (making me very happy). This is sorta the way it is with Jag. We don't know where he is at the end of TSW so the leaves the opening for Zekk or Kyp. All Jaina has to do is be smart and choose. If she even has that option (good going Farmboy with the whole 'sword of the jedi' thing )

I haven't read the books you're talking about, so I'm kind of speaking from an ignorant point of view (so keep that in mind while reading this), but I agree. I would love it if she went back to Zekk.
I think that with the way Luke and Mara Jade worked out, Jaina and Zekk should follow. I've seen the foundation of L/M laid out early in the books, and you look at it, close to the same foundation is laid out with J/Z. Luke and Mara's relationship in the beginning is sort of an uneasy thing, but you can tell that they're totally meant to fall in love at a later point. Jaina and Zekk are a bit different because, well...they didn't meet wanting to kill each other. They started out as best friends. But then, due to Zekk and the Shadow Academy, he sort of did want to kill Jaina. I don't think he ever really wanted to, nor did he ever have the heart...after all, she was his best friend. But he was supposed to.
In my opinion, the foundations laid for L/M and J/Z are just to similar and paralleled for J/Z not to work out.

OPh, sorry. We are talking baout a number of books that involve both Jaina and Zekk and they interact. That goes from the Young Jedi Knights ( YJK ) series to some in the New Jedi Order ( NJO ) to Dark Nest when they are joined.
